Jul 10,  · Even though it’s been a few months now, we’re sure that Monkees fans will recall that Rhino recently released THE MONKEES LIVE – THE MIKE & MICKY SHOW, the live album recorded by Mike Nesmith and Micky Dolenz on their tour. In case you missed the memo, it’s a track document of the tour, and it’s pretty fantastic.

Michael Nesmith left The Monkees in March to form The National Band, reducing the group to a duo consisting of Mickey Dolenz and Davy Jones to record one last album. The Monkees as a duo was a sad affair, the album the two recorded was an even sadder affair. The two dutifully added their vocals to a number of prerecorded tapes.
  6. Calling their final album Changes made sense for the ganpnogsetzdistzonovorbnentonanduhor.coinfo Nesmith had just departed, leaving only Mickey Dolenz and Davy Jones to hold down the fort. The other big change was that after years of struggling to have their voices as songwriters and musicians heard, the remaining duo basically gave up and let the producers take over.

Jan 08,  · This collection of Monkees songs is a must for all true Monkee fans! I liked every track the first time I listened to the CD. These are all new songs to me, a fan who has had the first 8 Monkees albums since the s (and since replaced all of them with CD versions.) "Changes" is for anyone who loves to hear Micky's and Davy's voices singing more of those love songs that could only have come /5(48).
  8. At the dawn of the 70's The Monkees knew this was the end, but the acted professionally no goofing from George Michael Dolenz or David Jones this time i.e. for better or for worse their no `Gonna Buy Me A Dog' on this one, sorry early Monkees fans, but this album is not called `Changes' without a reason/5(11).
  9. Headquarters is the third album issued by the Monkees and the first with substantial songwriting and instrumental performances by members of the group itself, rather than by session musicians and professional songwriters. After a struggle for creative autonomy with their record label, the group had been allowed, to a degree, to record by themselves.
